One Word for 2016 ( & Pimm's Recipe)

Last year I chose a word as a way of setting an intention for the year ahead.
It seemed like a simpler way to set a goal for the new year, than to try and stick to any resolutions. My word for 2015 was 'Enjoy'. A reminder to make the most of every moment and not get dragged down by the day to day of life. Honestly, I forgot about my word at times and I definitely had plenty of moments were I let myself be bored and boring. But, at the same time I think that for my first year in a long time with no overseas trip, or any particularly big, exciting events, that I made the most of what the year was and had loads of fun a long the way.

This year I'm thinking I should do the word again.
My word for 2016...

Positive!

I let myself be wayyyyy too effected by other people's negativity in 2015, so this year I'm aiming to keep the positive vibes flowing. I want to stay away from moaning about Monday morning, or picking at the quality of food at a restaurant or complaining that it's too hot, then too cold. I just want to look at the bright side of life and be grateful and thankful for all the wonderful things that are happening around me each day. Let's be honest, this won't be particularly easy for me, I naturally sit on the negative side of the fence but I totally value positive thinking and think it will be a great focus!

Now, let's get straight into some positive vibes with a little drinkie drink that would put a smile on anyone's dile. Ever since Mum and Dad visited England Pimm's has been a staple alcoholic beverage in our house and it was the perfect accompaniment for Christmas lunch on a warm Summer's day!

To make our super simple Summer Pimm's Cocktail:

1. Place handful of ice in drinking glass.
2. Chop up some orange and green apple and divide between glasses.
3. Pour 2 standard shots of Pimm's over fruit and ice.
4. Add lemonade.
5. Enjoy and Refresh!

Seriously, soooo simple, but so tasty and perfectly refreshing on a hot summer's day!
So next time you are sweltering in the heat and complaining about the broken air con, stop, breathe, think of the positives and whip up one of these bad boys!
