My sister's boyfriend came over from the US and it was just my immediate family and him here for a lovely Christmas day. While I love spending time with extended family and celebrating with them, I also adore the calm and carefree nature that comes from having only the 5 of us to think of.
We woke at 7am (Yes, my sister did actually ask my Mum what the earliest time was she could get up to start opening presents. Yes, she is 23). We opened our presents as slowly as possible to extend the surprises and giving for as long as possible.
Then we enjoyed a delicious Mum cooked breakfast of poached eggs, with spinach and salmon on English muffins, drizzled with hollandaise sauce. Om Nom Nom Nom!
Then it was time to hit the beach! The weatherman predicted wind and he was not wrong! Luckily, the sun was out, the day was warm and the wind was bearable. We played beach cricket (thanks $10 kids cricket set from Woolies) and my personal favourite Finska.
Once we were all feeling sun kissed and windblown we headed home for some snacks before the annual Christmas Ping Pong Championship. My sister's boyfriend won for the second year in a row, surprising no one.
So many games, we didn't even sit down to eat lunch until around 330. Boy, was that a feast! Oysters, prawn salad, salmon, turkey, potato salad, bread! YUM!
After last years fun filled reindeer bon-bons, I knew we needed something again this year. Enter, Twister Bon-bons. Each bon-bon contained a little game of some sort and then in the box was a portable twister dot game. It was totally hilarious and the perfect after meal entertainment.
The rest of the afternoon was devoted to packing (we are heading off early on boxing day for a fun filled week in Victoria). Followed by dessert (choc ring and peanut butter cup cheesecake) and a round of Apples to Apples (My sister's boyfriend gift to us and a game I have always wanted!).
Hope you also had a wonderful Christmas full of family, friends and food too.
If you write a recap be sure to share it with me in the comments!
