guide to life: the green monster.

i first heard of the green monster last year when i started following the blog "oh she glows"...
angela was creating a green monster frenzy in the blogging world!
so what is a green monster?
a healthy, delicious, nutrient packed green smoothie, of course...
and i have finally jumped on board the green monster bandwagon!

honestly, i could not understand how a smoothie full of green (spinach, kale etc.) could be tasty...
alas, im a convert - green monsters a freakin scrumptious!!!

my first ever green monster, ready to drink!

and easy to make too...

1. Break a banana into chunks and freeze overnight...
straight out of the freezer.

I simply popped mine into my new favourite product, the 'sistema soup mug to go', clipped the lid on and popped it in the freezer...
seriously i love my sistema soup mug to go!!!! I love that its freezer and microwave friendly and I can make everything from soup to smoothies in it! I have two, this colour and one in hot pink.

2. Pour 1 cup of almond milk over the banana.

3. Add 1 tablespoon of nut butter, 1 teaspoon of chia seeds, 1 tablespoon of protein powder (optional) and two handfuls of baby spinach.

4. BLEND!
now i simply used a stick blender and it meant i had no mess as i could make the whole smoothie in my mug...
the consistency was fine for me, but you could definately get it smoother with a proper blender!

5. Add 2-3 ice cubes and blend again...
i didn't blend the ice tooo much, i liked the icey chunks.

6. ENJOY!
yumm-o!

note: all views are my own, i was not compensated for this post in any way shape or form.

if you really knew me...

yes this post has almost been done to death in the blogosphere but ive enjoyed reading everyone else's contributions and thought it was time to join in!

If you really knew me...

- you would know that i do not and never will (ever!) eat raw tomatoes!

- you would know that i do not like it when people grab my hand/wrist/shoulder/arm/any body part when i am out at a club/pub/anywhere!

- you would know that i love my life here at university and as excited as i am for the future i am so sad to soon be closing this chapter of my life.

best years of my life. res ball 2011.

- you would know that i can not get enough of 90s pop music.

- you would know that i am a big kid! (i think most of you here have probably already got that impression anyways!).

- you would know that i love working with kids and just generally being around them. i find kids so much fun and love working as a nanny/babysitter. babies are just the cutest! i definately want to be a parent some day.

- you would know how much my family mean to me and how close i am to them.

 from left: me, little sister, mum <3 :=":" dad="dad" font="font" just="just" missing="missing">

- you would know that i cry easily! especially if you get a few drinks in me!!!

- you would know that i have been playing this song on repeat all weeeeek...

these are a few of my favourite... words.

DUNZO!
dunzo is a word i use often!
it can be used whenever something is done or over or finished...
check out this clip to see how kristin introduced the word to me first on laguna beach.

DOUCHEBAG!
oh my favourite insult...
" a male with a certain combination of obnoxious characteristics related to attitude, social ineptitude, public behaviour, or outward presentation."
i use this word a million times a day...
i guess thats what happens when every second guy you meet is clearly a douchebag!

FUCKNUCKLE!
my newest insult...
i learnt of this little gem of a word in the book 'a girl like you' and have not stopped using it since!
its my go to word when douchebag just isn't quite enough...
plus its fun to say!

ARSEHAT!
this one just makes me laugh and it never hurts to have another insult up your sleave, right?
thanks to @stellaorbit for the suggestion...
you were so right its a lot of fun to hashtag #arsehat !

letting out my  late night/early morning anger on twitter. hashtag!

ok so three out of four are insulting words...
but but but...
curse words are just more fun then normal words!!!

do you have any more fun words i can use to refer to the douchebags in my life as?
please share!

a girl like you.

i love reading...
always have!

i remember christmas, after christmas, having a list of books that i wanted my parents (or santa) to get for me...
one year it was saddle club...
another it was lizzie mcguire...
and another it was the sisterhood of the travelling pants series...
and of a christmas afternoon while everyone else was napping i would be working my way through my books...
always finishing them by the time new years rolled round!

ok lets get to the point of this post...
i just read a book that has instantly become one of my favourites EVER!

i don't want to give anything away about the book...
i just want you all to read it!
gemma integrates the curse words so well into her writing...
allowing me to now incorporate words such as fucknuckle and cockmonkey into my everyday vocabulary!

but seriously...
i loved everything about this book...
the characters were spot on and i loved how much i could relate to the main character...
its like chic lit but smarter and funnier...
much funnier!

ok, im off to start reading gemma's other book 'the dating detox' because the end of 'a girl like you' has left a void in my life!

two posts in one day people! thats how much i love this book!!!

back to school.

oh the annual back to school party!
we'll take any excuse for a party here at uni...
even celebrating going back to class for semester two.

simple theme:
wear your old school uniform...
or if youve outgrown it/burnt it the day you graduated, wear anything that resembles a school uniform!
kahlia and i picked up netball skirts and cheap white tops from the mall...
and paired these with knee length white socks, bow headbands and black bows around our necks (not shown in picture)...
we learnt at the start of the night whilst getting ready that we had the ability to do our skirts up real tight and then pop them off with our stomach muscles...
ofcourse when you discover this so early in the night its bound to come out later...
and that it did...
right in the middle of the dfloor...
classy ladies right here!

it was a super fun night...
which resulted in a TWO day hangover :/

what NOT to do...

... at the movies.

weheartit

ok so i go to the cinema a lot...
like a lot, a lot!
we're talking 5 times a month...
ok, sometimes more!

here are my top 3 things NOT to do at the cinema...
if you don't want to receive dirty looks from me and lots of shushing from the room mate!

No.1
DO NOT TALK DURING THE MOVIE!
seems obvious yeah?
apparently not!
i just sat through 'the campaign' with a group of teenagers sitting behind us talking constantly...
so constantly that at the end i heard one of the other girls having to ask her friends what happened because she missed a whole scene while having her super important mid movie d&m.

No.2
DO NOT SIT NEXT TO ME!
ok so occasionaly you go to a super popular movie and most of the seats are taken...
generally though this doesnt happen...
and if there is half a movie theatre empty...
why the hell do you feel the need to sit directly next to and/or infront of me!?!?!?!?!
i want to relax and spread my stuff all over the seat next to me without worrying that you're gonna steal it...
and i really want to put my feet up on the chair in front...
so if you sit in front of me you can deal with feet in your hair!!!

No.3
DO NOT SIT AT THE FRONT AND MAKE OUT!
yes this happened at a movie i went to...
it was opening week on a friday night so the place was packed...
and these two teenagers choose to sit right down the front in front of everyone...
next thing you know they are alllllllll over each other, fondling and kissing and generally displaying far tooo much PDA...
it was gross and sooo not appropriate...
if you want to make out at the movies, find a mostly empty cinema and sit up the back...
no one wants to watch that shit!
laughing like a hyena while your date whispers hilarious (i'm sure) sweet nothings in your ear also falls into this category...
if you want to talk/flirt/make out/laugh like a hyena on your first date...
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

anyone else like to add to the list?

the end is near.

i told you in my last post that there were lots of 'last times' fast approaching...
i'm currently working on my final uni assignment and procrastinating like the well practiced forth year student that i am...
hot tip: eating and watching the hills or dawson's creek is a great way to procrastinate!!!

and another thing that is coming to an end is the time left to complete my day zero list!

i started my list of 101 things to do in 1001 days on december 27 2009 and will have lived all of those 1001   days as of september 23 this year...
and im not even close to finishing all the things on my list...
some of them ive changed my mind about wanting to do...
some i can't make happen before the end date and they will roll over to my next list...
and some i just need to do already...
for example:
- Not log into facebook for a whole week.
- say 'yes' to everything for one day.
- open a bottle of bubbly on my own.
- finish uni.

so these are my goals for the next few weeks...
starting tommorow...
when i log out of facebook for a WHOLE week...
i'll let you know how that one goes!

do you have a list of life goals?
or have you ever quit facebook???

but i only have one hand...

life is hard with one hand mostly out of action!
the diagnosis for my cheerleading thumb injury is torn ligaments with a small sliver of bone breaking off...
so it hurts alot and i still can't use it for much at all...
i definately have a new found appreciation for my hands...
and thankgod i hurt the left one and not the right!!!

things that become super difficult when you only have one working hand:
- opening packets
- tying up your hair
- doing things up (eg. zippers)
- putting a bra on! (and even getting it off for that matter)
- doing up jeans
- holding onto things and carrying bags
- just life in general!!!

however it is still possible to go out and have a fun night out...
(but im not sure why people think its ok to reach out and touch your bandaged hand!?! its obviously hurt people!).
