fashion 3D.

ive just returned home from a screening of the titanic in 3D...
talk about a classic movie, that i could watch a thousand times over and never bore of!

but ive been left with a dilemma...
i paid one whole dollar for my 3D glasses...
and i feel they are worthy of more then a gloomy cinema...
they need to see the light of day...

and so i propose to you that we set a new trend...
lets make 3D glasses our new go to accessory!!!
who wears sunnies these days?
eye protection?
 pfffffft!
its all about style, baby!

sexy yeah?

mix it up and try the different styles...

or diy and add a little bling...

jump on board this trend...
its set to take off any day now...
see even beyonce is in on it!
wooooo, that girl can rock any fad! credit.

perhaps if you are attending nuffnang fashionopolis we can all wear them together?
this is, ofcourse, my Sunglass Hut Inner Circle Nuffnang Fashionopolis competition entry to win myself tickets to the highly anticipated event...
so fingers crossed ill be there!

i mean, how can you not pick me?
just look how diverse this trend can be...
even the dogs can rock it!

this fashion craze is just too hot to pass up...
post a photo on facebook, twitter, instagram, your blog, ANYWHERE...
and leave us a link in the comments so we can award you some serious style brownie points!

:)
xx

note: in all seriousness the packet my glasses came in said NOT to wear them as sunglasses, so please don't expect them to protect you from the sun, if you're at the beach wear sunglasses UNDER your 3D glasses so you still look great and will be able to see long into the future!

guide to life: kid's parties.

as you may or may not know, i lead a double life...
monday through friday i am the party hopping unversity student you read so much about here...
on the weekend however...
i become a mum's best friend...
a child's party attendant for the most popular party company in my city!

so what does that involve you ask?
i facepaint, balloon model, apply glitter tattoos, run party games, dance games, novelty races and supervise jumping castles...
i can be booked to do this at private parties or huge corporate events...
i have been working for the company for almost three years now and love my job!

obviously after attending hundreds of private parties, i've come to have my own opinions about the do's and dont's of kid's birthdays...
and what kind of blogger would i be if i didn't share them with you all!

DO...

- provide food for both the children and any parents that are staying...
however dont go overboard...
i have seen so much wastage - its sickening!
and always provide a healthy option for the kiddies...
fruit sticks (shown above) are a great option!

- plan for rain...
have a back up plan that considers different weather option...
if its a park party and its a rainy day either be willing to hold it at your house or call it off early, don't make your guests get wet!

- get a bubble blower or bottles of bubble mixture...
honestly bubbles are a life saver...
i use them often when im running games at a party and they are great for entertaining the really young guests...
simply blow the bubbles and encourage the children to chase, chase, chase!

- give the children space...
make sure there is a space for eating and a space for playing and that the two arent on top of each other as kids will ALWAYS cry over spilt milk...
if your house isn't big enough, consider the park or a local scout hall.

- have music...
the kids love it!
justin clarke makes great cds for kids, or get a mix with the classic dance tunes...
music games are easy to run and most kids will be willing to join in...
try the chicken dance, limbo, musical statues, musical bobs & the hokey pokey.

- provide some type of craft activity...
i have seen this done really really well at a few parties...
one had a wizard and unicorn theme and the kids were given party hats and lots of stickers to decorate them with, the hats become wizard hats and unicorn horns, and were a great gift to take home...
another party had a table set up with kid friendly scissors, balloons and rice and they were making hacky sacks.

DONT...

- hold your event outside in the middle of winter....
sounds like common sense right?
apparently not!

- have pass the parcel...
i know kids say they love it, but honestly once they get their prize out of that parcel they lose interest real quick and then its almost impossible to keep that parcel rotating around...
if your child insists on it, only give in if the guests are over around 6 years old, they just get confused before this.

- think that its an opportunity for you to just hang out with your friends...
you need to entertain the kids and supervise them...
i went to a party once where the fathers sat around a fire getting drunk and the mums played bingo, whilst the kids ran riot...
just because you hire someone or you think the kids can entertain themselves doesnt take away your responsibility to be in charge and involved!

good luck with your next party!
if you have any questions about planning kids parties or what its like to hire someone to work at your parties, simply ask in the comments or email me at that_girl18@hotmail.com.

opshop.

following on from last weeks post on 'guide to life: dress ups'....
i thought id share some of the photos from the opshop ball that i attended last thursday...
the idea is that what you wear to ball must have been bought from the opshop...
we then had a two course meal and a bar tab...
ofcourse it was a good time!

{mirror shot to capture the outfit, ill put the face down to the wine ;) }

my dress cost me $9 and was soooo comfy,
as for the hair, i just pushed it all to one side, put a few bobby pins in the back and then added a few curls with my straightner!

{photo taking before dinner - im on the left}

{my housemate, loving his suspenders}

 {lovely ladies with their OJ wines}

 {after dinner on the dfloor}

guide to life: dressups.

oh dressups...
i cannot get enough of you...
and i will make the most of you whilst i am still young and carefree.
now i realise not everyone attends as many dressup parties as i do...
but they do tend to pop up everynow and then...
so i thought id share a few simple tips.
#1. It doesnt have to cost a fortune.
our mexican costumes only cost us about $8 each (the sombreros were free at the event). we bought blankets that were on sale at a cheap shop and then cut a hole in them, hello poncho. then we grabbed some cheap stick on beards to add a little sumthin sumthin to the look.

#2. Ebay is your friend.
for my 21st birthday party my whole family got our costumes from ebay.
my dads was my favourite, and it only cost us $70 with postage! it included everything you can see on him, plus under that top are blow up shoulders that help to hide his head (the tie is actually mesh and see through from inside, so he wasnt completely blind, tho he did run into a couple of tables).
ebay is great for us to use here in australia because it provides so much more choice, and the americans tend to have better quality costumes.

#3. The opshop is a goldmine.

This photo was taken at last years opshop ball (i attended this years op shop ball last night - fun fun, may be a post coming on that soon.). the idea of the ball is that all clothes must be bought at the opshop... you'd be surprised what you can find there, always worth a look!
#4. Simple can still look effective.

this photo was taken before beach party. obviously the theme is fairly simple in itself, but by simply adding one tiny costume accessorie (the flower headband) you look like youve gone to some actual effort, which always make you look good to party hosts.
#5. Face paint can change you.
this was one of the most effective and complimented costumes ive worn and it was so easy! any old black clothes and some face paint.... done!

please share some links to fancy dress youve been to...
i love costumes!

easter... the sugar free way.

so i wasn't going to do an easter post this year...
because well, i didnt do anything easter-y!
i had to work on the saturday and so i didnt travel home to spend the long weekend with my family...
instead i stayed on campus, had a lovely friday movie night, went out on saturday, and felt hungover and sick all of sunday...
so instead this a post about not eating sugar at easter!

missing the traditional easter with the family definately made being sugar free alot easier...
the hangover however did not!
the family i babysit for bought me a chocolate bunny, which was so sweet of them...
and i bought it home on thursday and sat it on my desk, by lunch time friday i was soooo tempted to eat it...
i decided that the bunny would be my only chocolate of easter...
and so i had a nibble...
it was alright...
i had a little more...
a quarter of a bunny later i decided i didnt really like the taste...
it didnt taste the same anymore...
i didnt really want to keep eating it...
i stopped...
and that was all the chocolate i had for easter!
it has never ever ever ever ever been so easy to say no to chocolate!

ive had a  few people ask what im eating if im not eating sugar...
some examples:

- celery with cream cheese
-carrot and hummus.
- oats with berries.
- stir fry veggies
- avocado, avocado, avocado!
- risotto primavera
 - eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs and more eggs!

i do not feel deprived at all without sugar,
i dont even miss it!
i didnt understand when people made statements like that before,
but now after just over 3 week without sugar, i get it!

a drink... or two.

this week i finally got instagram...
(i have an android and its taken them forever for them to release the app)...
you can follow me @rinniez3...
and so far i have learnt one lesson from my photo posting...
i sure do enjoy my beverages.
the proof:

got cups?
preparation for my housemates 22nd birthday celebrations on wednesday night.

wine in my titans mug <3

enjoying our night out - drinks in hand :)
(for the record neither of these are actually mine - i stuck to wine, vodka lime soads and tequila shots).

my first soft drink in three weeks! terrible hangover forced me into it, not a fan of artifical sweetners at all, but since i quit sugar this was my best choice.

if you have instagram be sure to leave your username so i can follow you!
