kindergarten kids are the cutest!

ever since i decided i wanted to be a teacher i thought i wanted to teach kindy....

then i did my first 2 week professional experience placement with a 5/6 class in first semester this year and thought "wow, these kids are great to teach, so easy to talk with and explain things too, maybe i would struggle with the younger ones"...

so when i found out my second prac for the year would be with kindergarten i was both nervous and exicted...

i started on monday and it has been such an enjoyable week...

my mentoring teacher is so lovely and the kids are gorgeous...

they do a lot of play based learning and it is so interesting to watch the students take control over their learning and create some really clever inventions...

it has definately reignited my interest in teaching lower primary!

this monday i have an exam, then three more days of prac, another exam on friday, the weekend, two more days of prac and then im done with my second year of university....

one and half more weeks here after that and then i get to go home for the end of december/ all of january....

yayayayayay!

recovery day.

so resball was amazing and we were all so classy on the night...

recovery day is possibly the most looked forward to day of the res year...

everyone is still drunk/hungover from the ball so what better way to recover then to drink some more...

recovery is typically a messy messy messy messy messy messy messy day...

and this year it was fairly messy, tho everybody noted it was much more mellow then previous years.

it was a stinkin hot day, and ofcourse i didnt think to wear sunscreen, so right now you can pretty much peal all the skin off my back - disgusting!!!!!!

also because it was a hot day, a run through the srinklers just sounded perfect....

and it was!

res ball 2010.

res ball is a highly antcipated annual event that sees all us res kids frocking up and putting a little effort into our appearance for once, before drinking ourselves silly and partying the night away...

you may recall last years resball which i blogged about here.

i had, had my dress for months...

when i saw it on ebay, i just knew i had to have it and the upcoming ball was the perfect excuse...

it is a LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls dress...

(if you dont already, i LOVE the hills and so had to have something designed by LC!!!)

the belt that came with the dress didnt seem dressy enough tho so i went on the search for one and managed to pick up the one in the photos at kmart two days before the ball

when we arrived at the venue, entrees were on the table and i ate duck for the second time in my life (the first time being at the same venue at res ball last year!)....

the beer and wine flowed freely (us res kids sureeeee enjoy a bar tab!)

and two million hundred thousand photos were taken!

dinner was steak and veggies? i dont really remember, hardly touched it, not a steak fan!

res awards happened at some point in the night, with awards such as best couple, figjam, res king, res queen, pash n dash and more.

not many of these photos show it but i actually had an extension ponytail in my hair that was long and curly...

i loved it since my hair has been taking forever to grow since i cut it short.

overall, a fantastic night!

stoneweek day 6: stonefest

and finally we reach the last day of stoneweek...

the big event...

a music festival held up at the uni, this year featuring acts such as operator please, xavier rudd, bluejuice, pendulum, bliss & eso and more.

the day started out cloudy and rain was looking highly likely...

but it managed to hold out while we drag some couches to the lawns for a cosy pre-drinking sesh...

however, the second we arrived at the festival the heavens opened up and the rain poured on down...

we quickly got ourselves a free poncho and embraced the rain...

cue stomping in mud puddles and dancing up a storm.

stoneweek day 5: floor crawl and awards

last year in stoneweek we used our friday as a sort of rest day with no planned activities and i cant believe it but no drinking either...

this year however one of our resident assistants organised for new res to have a floor crawl...

basically we spent an hour in each block (from I block to N block) and drank and hung out and had a good ol time.

(this was the only day i had work commitments this week and was so stoked when i got to nannying to be told i was going to finish 2 hours early and still get paid for a full day - bonus!)

stoneweek day 4: thirstday thursday

traditionally every year on the thursday of stoneweek we have 'case day'...

the idea being to drink a whole case of any alcoholic beverage in the one day...

sooo much fun and the day we all look forward to most in the week!

this year however, case day was banned :(

yes, ok so there was some lighting rubbish and trolleys and what not on fire last year and we do get rather messy...

but cancelling our favourite day of the year -

OUTRAGEOUS!

the solution offered to us by the residence management:

....thirst day thursday...

a $3 spirits drink deal at a pub in the city and exclusive access to the pool room...

woop di do dah!

it was definately no case day.

that said i still managed to have a good day...

i didnt rock up to thirst day til about 3ish and stayed til 530...

half of the group went to club x for a strip show (we struggle to get into anywhere else in our stoneweek shirts - we have a bit of a reputation you see)...

while some more went back to res...

and a few of us hiked to another bar...

we stayed for a few hours before heading home and enjoying another night of partying on res.

stoneweek day 3: oktoberfest, football, cowboys and indians.

another day, another round of missed photo opportunities...

totally forgot to take my camera with me anywhere on the third day of my favourite week of the year!

we started drinking at 12ish with a beer up at the university for UCtoberfest...

sitting in the green grass, sippin on our beer, listening to tunes, chatting with good friends, soaking up the sun...

lovely chilled out day.

at 5pm it was time to grab a few drinks and head on up to the uni footy fields to watch the annual uni of origin in which the two uni teams in our city battle it out...

unfortunately my uni's team (the cows) lost...

but it was still a fun game to watch.

a few more drinkies on res and it was time to head to our local pub for a cowboys and indians theme night...

i didnt dress up though, last years theme was the same and i couldnt be bothered to do it again and anyway we had to keep out stoneweek shirts on at allllll times!
