facepaint in a nightclub?

those of you that follow me on twitter (@rinniez) may have noticed me mention/complain about a face painting job i had agreed to take on...
you see i work for a kids party company...
have done so for almost a year now and i love it!
i started out as a jumping castle supervisor and earlier this year undertook the training to become a face painter, balloon moddler and party attendant...
so ive been working for a few months now heading out to kids parties and showing them a good time...
then a few weeks ago my boss was contacted by a popular local nightclub/pub to provide facepainting for their birthday bash UV party...
so my boss sent out an email asking if any of the staff would be comfortable to take on such a job...
the idea didnt phase me too much and  i needed the money so i said sure...
however when the day came i woke up exhausted (how does that happen?) and went down hill throughout the day...
by 6pm i couldnt stand up without getting headspins and thought i might pass out...
i did not want to go to work and so i took to twitter to vent...
time passed, i had a nap and when 830 rolled around i headed off into the city...
i think my adrenaline kicked in then and i managed to get through the night fine (tho the headspins came back the next day)...
in fact, i even had fun!

two of my friends even dropped by and let me attack them with my neon glitter and it felt less like work and more like a crazy, albiet sober, night on the town...
afterwards i felt bad for whinging so much...
need to remember not to do that, who wants to read my complaining anyways!?!

:)

i love the little cheese and crackers they give you...
mmmmm cheese!

2. movie snack(s) you can't live without
currently loving a big box of popcorn with a bag of malteasers poured into it...
the combo of the salty with the choc...
delicious!

3. fav current "pump up" or dance song
"i like it" by enrique iglesias ft pitbull...

4. ultra awesome-y dream job
actress...
in hollywood...
super famous and all that...
nah fame would be fun but just to be able to survive comfortably from acting would be ah-mazing...
one of the best things ive ever done is being a featured extra in a television commercial.

5. fav hot drink
coffee...
but im not really a hot drink person...
i much prefer them ice cold!

6. where do you see yourself in one year

how do i pick one song to be my theme?
ummmmmm ok i pick...

take me home?

awwwwwww how anyone can abandon those adorable puppy dog eyes i just dont know!
but it happens...
often...
and i understand that sometimes people just dont have a choice about giving up their pet (going into aged care for example)...
but its so sad to see people constantly breeding and buying and wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars on their 'designer pooches' when there are puppies just as deserving of some love and a home dying in pounds all over the country...
now i must admit that neither of the dogs my family have had, have come from shelters...
but the second i am in the position to have my own pet i will be adopting (probably more then once)...
i know many people avoid shelters because they assume all the dogs there will be old or have issues that lead to them being abandoned, but that is just NOT the case...
you can get puppies and if you are willing to wait a little (or travel) you can even be picky about which breed of dog you are after!
dont believe me?
have a look at this adoption site:
plenty of cute puppies, just waiting for you to adopt them!
or follow pet rescue on twitter:
or just scroll to the bottom of this page and have a search through pet rescue's adorable pups!

all im asking is that next time you are in the market for a pet (its not just dogs that need homes)...
consider adoption!

have any of you ever adopted?
do you know anyone who has?
how do you feel about it?
would you do it?

puppy love.

i am a dog person through & through...
my family got our first dog when i was about 5...
a male jack russell x foxy (no photos on my current computer unfortunately) ...
that my silly parents allowed me and my sister (3) to name, 'Tom' (thankfully, they picked a male cause i would of felt pretty silly 5 years on running around the streets, beach, backyard calling for 'Katie' - yep, these were the only 2 names we would allow - same for our dolls haha)...
Tom was an amazing dog, my best friend, brother, a HUGE part of our family...
I put that dog through hell - trapped him on the verandah, played 'vets' with him, made him jump over skipping ropes as though he were a showjumping horse, even made him sleep in a dolls cot!
Tom was put down when I was 15, it was one of the saddest moments of my life, mum dad and my sister all went to the vets with him but i didnt want to remember him that way and so said my goodbyes at home.

Simba 2008

We got our 2nd dog (a maltese x shitzu) about a year and a half later when i was 17...
I had just finished the HSC and was hardly working so i spent about 3 months alone at home with him, playing and looking after him...
when we got him his name was 'Beano' but none of us liked that, I wanted to name him 'Ralph' so that was his name for a day until my sister looked at hime one night and all the hair on the top of his head was sticking up and he looked like 'Simba' from the Lion King when he was born and so 'Simba' stuck...
and boy does he live up to his name - climbing on ALL the furniture, jumping from huge heights, acting every bit the lion he is named after.

Simba snuggled up on my pillow 2008

ok so now you know all about my pups and how much i care/d about them id like to move on to the point of this post...
please click on this website and then click 'like' for facebook and pedigree will donate one bowl of dog food to a dog shelter!

another post about dog adoption coming soon.

well hey there, stranger!

jane, over at well hey there, Stranger! posted a couple of getting to know you questions a few weeks ago, and being the lazy person i am, im just getting around to answering them...
im a fairly new follower of janes but i am absolutely LOVING her blog...
jane's interesting stories, thoughts and plans make for some great reading...
for being only 20 years old (same as me) she really seems to have her head screwed on well, with a clear sense of what she wants from life...
oh and she posts plenty of photos to keep things entertaining too...
i definately recommend giving well hey there, stranger! a look!

now onto the questions...

1. where are you from and where do you call "home"?
i was born in a small town on the far south coast of NSW. i lived there from birth til i finished school and had to move away to get work and go to uni (i was 17)...
now im living in the nation's capital.... woohooo... but i wont be here any longer then necessary, once this uni degree is done with ill move on, but i have no idea where i will go...
so i guess i still call the coast "home", canberra is just "temporary".

2. What is your favourite pizza topping?
at the moment, by housemate and i are loving crust pizza's peri-peri topping... yum yum yum...
but in general i love meat lovers topping or seafood topping...
oh and you can never go past the good ol' ham, cheese and pineapple!

3. Where is your ideal holiday destination?
somewhere exotic and coastal, with nice beaches and warm, sunny days...
like the greek islands...
which im hoping to get to next winter (their summer)...
im planning a topdeck tour of europe with three days sailing around the greek islands....
BLISS!

4. Where do you want to be in 10 years time?
below is jane's own answer and it pretty much sums up what i want too:
"I'll be 30. I hope to be a mother, a wife and a primary school teacher. I hope to own my own home and to be living comfortably and happily with my little family. That might sound unbelievably corny, but it seriously is where I want to be."

5. What would you do on your perfect Sunday?
 wake up around 830am...
head down to the beach with my family (or friends)...
go for a morning swim and/or surf (paddle around, im not the best surfer)...
have bacon and egg rolls, cooked on the bbq's at the beach for breakfast...
head home for a shower...
spend some time reading a good book in the sun...
see some friends for coffee and a catch up, perhaps see a movie...
go to out to dinner with a few friends...
 lovely.

6. Tell me something random about yourself.
i drink $2 red wine...
well, as of last week i do...
mmmmmmm...
cheap alcoholic goodness.
haha.
random enough?
