  • tears of happiness
  • i do

...just everything!

my cousins wedding this past weekend was beautiful...
once again i have a lack of photos another cousin asked me to film the ceremony for them...
amazing night!

what is your favourite thing about weddings?
mine is my family, as all the weddings i have attended to this point have been that of relatives...
i have a wonderful extended family who i dont get to see anywhere near often enough and always have a crazy time with when we get together...
we rip the d-floor up

they grow up so fast.

i spent the last four days down at home as it was my little sisters birthday...
she is officially an adult now...
the big 1-8!

on the day...
i bought happy birthday flags and hung them in the lounge room for her to wake up to...
we got up early and gave her presents...
i got her the word 'believe' in silver letters that she can either stand on top of her desk, or on a shelf, or stick to the wall in her bedroom, a bottle of passion pop, a couple of her face darrell lea chocolates and a dvd that i made of photos since she was little to now...
her best friend came down and surprised her before they both headed off to school...
i went and met up with them and a few of my sisters other friends for lunch at the pub...
my sister was so excited to buy and drink her first legal alcoholic beverage...
and to play the pokies, though once she had put a dollar through she saw how unexciting they are to play...
that night she had a big dinner at a local club with about 20 of her close friends and a few adults/parents...
unfortunately i have no photos to share with you all as i took on the role of personal photographer for my sister and all the photos are therefore back down home on her camera...
it was a good night and i think she really enjoyed herself!

we heart it

tommorow we are off to my cousins wedding...
i cant wait to see all the family...
i love family gatherings and weddings and parties
ill take my camera and should have lots of wedding photos to share next week

:)

my friends.

how many close friends do you have?
what do i even consider a close friend?
someone i feel comfortable to hang out with, without needing to say a word...
someone i want to share my stories with and want to hear theres...
someone i would go above and beyond for ( and would hope they would for me too )...
someone i make an effort to keep in contact with when they are not around...
i cant put a number on how many i have...
but i have enough...
i have great, wonderful, special friends who make my life amazing.

where did you meet?
i still keep in close contact with a few of my highschool/childhood friends...
the ones that were/are special to me know it because i won't let them fall out of my life and no matter how long it is between visits, when we get together it always feels like there has been no break.
the majority of the close friends i have today i met at/through university...
living on res you get really close to people, spending so much time with them, growing up, having soooo many new experiences, living together...
we got an amazing group of people together in fresher year (last year) and its still going strong now.

how long have you known them?
as mentioned above alot of my close friends i have only known for about a year and a half...
but then i also have those highschool friends who i have known for about 8 years...
and a special couple who i have known for almost my whole life!

are they mostly female or male?
in primary and highschool ALL my close friends were girls...
sure there were boys that we spent time with and that hung out with us as a group...
but i would never spend individual time with them and or spend time being the only girl with a group of guys...
ive got more male friends now and i love them...
they are really great guys (obviously, why else would i be friends with them? haha)...
but id still say im mostly a girls girl when it comes to close friendships.

do you have a best friend?
i dont like this term...
in highschool i could have always told you who my best friend was, but now we dont even speak anymore...
so yes, at any given time i may be closer with and spending more time with one friend above all others...
but i tend to go through phases and choose not to define any one person as a best friend anymore...
all my friends are unique, inspiring, amazing people...
and i love them all.

the other side.

many of my posts are recounts of booze fuelled fun...
nights at the pub, nights in the city, res parties, uni parties, fancy dress parties, birthdays, dinners, music festivals....
you name it...
i was probably accompanied by my lil pal's vodka and goon!

its university and in particular, res (campus) culture to drink...
ALOT!

i wrote a post last week, about what happens when it goes too far...
but what about the toll of day to day drinking!?!

last year was messy...
i would drink wayyyyy too much and either spend half the night or all the next day throwing up...
i missed work a few times because i was too sick to get out of bed...
i got myself to the point where my friends had to look after me and hold my hair back far too often...
but again and again id drink and drink and drink and drink.

this year ive been so much smarter about my drinking...
ive only had 3 hangovers i can remember so far this year (compared to last when i would have 3 a week)...
i havent thrown up as a result from drinking at all this year...
i drink so much less and have finally realised you dont need to get trashed to have a great time...
its so much more fun when you can actually remember what you did the night before!

this past thursday i went out in the city and drank a lil more then i should have...
i paid the price on friday...
my head felt like it was about to cave in...
i couldnt sit or stand without my head spinning...
i thought i was going to have make a run for the toilet to throw up at any second...
hangovers are not pretty!

ouchie.

ive spent the majority of the past 5 years walking around with the word
LOVE
written in pen on the inside of my left wrist...
people always ask me if its a tattoo, and those who know its not ask when im finally going to get it made permenant, and occasionally when i go home my mum catches sight of it and thinks ive finally gone and got it done...
ive been contemplating getting it as a tattoo for quite awhile but knew my parents wouldn't let me til i was 18 and i havent had the money for it since ive been old enough...
so a few months ago i decided that my 'love' tattoo would be a way to mark my 21st birthday next year...
obviously i hadn't had a needle in a while!

well today i had a bloodtest...
and quickly remembered my fear of needles...

i didnt always hate needles...
i cant even pinpoint when i began to find them scary but i do remember being overly dramatic about the prospect of a blood test when i was about 10...
then when i was in hopsital after my car accident i was stabbed in the stomach so many times it turned purple and yellow and bruised for weeks and i had two drips inserted (ergh i really really hate drips, the needle STAYS in your arm/wrist/hand ewwwww!).
anyway so sitting there today waiting for the lovely nurse to take my blood i quickly realised that i would never be able to go through with getting a tattoo...
i can totally see myself getting halfway through and freaking out and living life with a "lo" tattoo...
:(

anyone else hate needles?
anyone had a tattoo?
anyone know how i can get over this and find the courage to get a tattoo?

dirty doctors, naughty nurses turns real.

each year here at university we have a 'dirty doctors, naughty nurses' party...
its the one night of the year you can dress like a total slut and noone judges you (much!)...
girls go shopping (some months in advance) for overpriced, super tight costumes...
boys chuck on their 'old man' vests and ties...
and those who couldnt really be bothered with it all choose the easy 'patient' option (aka. tie a bandage around a part of your body).

i never made to the party this year.

i was dressed...
make up on, hair done...
i predrank with all my friends...

but then i ended up with a ride in an ambulance and 5 hours sitting in emergancy...
a friend of mine had a bit, well a lot, too much to drink...
and so i got to spend 'dirty doctors, naughty nurses' with some real life doctors and nurses (although they were not dirty or naughty at all, they were amazing, caring people)...
the ambulance driver in particular found our costumes hilarious and radioed ahead to tell the guys at the hospital just how funny the incoming load was.

so my friends...
what i orignially thought would be a recap of a hazy night of dancing til the early morning...
has turned into a rather dull account of what happens when alcohol comsumption goes wrong.

Drink In Moderation

(or dont... just be careful)

paintball

OUCH!
paintball kinda hurts...
a little...
actually it was nowhere near as bad as what i was expecting...
expect for the second last shot...
right on my knuckles...
now that was painful (we're talking instant swelling, broken skin and blood)...
i took a few photos of my hand when i got home for proof....

and yes i am being a big sook haha...
its nothing compared to a shot one of my friends got in the neck from about 2 metres or so away (we weren't supposed to shoot from any closer then 5m)...
even the guys that worked at paintball said they hadnt seen anything like his neck shot before, it was HUGE!

i had a great day paintballing...
the fact that it was all free (expect for 100 balls i bought for 12.50) made it even better!

we had been playing assassins for a few weeks and made it to the top ten so paintballing was our prize...
assasins is a game where you get given a target and must shoot them with a water pistol without anyone seeing...
it gets run every year on res and this year i came about 9th.

i was soooo nervous before played but after the first hit i realised it was going to hurt but only for a few seconds and then you would forget and focus on either not getting hit again or shooting someone else.

cant wait to play again.
have any of you ever played???

groovin the moo.

its days like last sunday that remind me just how much i love living on res (campus at uni)...
it was a glorious autumn day with the sun shining down...
awoken at 8am to the sound of a hooting horn and i wasnt even annoyed...
i was excited...
up, dressed and ready by 9...
first drinks at 10...
a new res 'driveway' party to kick off the day...

then at about 130ish we headed on down to the uni for groovin the moo...
a music festival featuring lisa mitchell, british india, silverchair, grinspoon, vampire weekend, empire of the sun and more...

eventually it got dark...
and COLD!

highlights were british india and grinspoon...
we left 3 songs into silverchair...
we were over it and freezing.

fantastic day...
loads n loads n loads of fun...
i love events like this...
and everyone from res getting together for pre drinks...
this is why i love being at uni.

im gonna jump...

into a canyon...
from 109 m high...
and hope i dont splat at the bottom!
why would anyone do this?
cause it was an unbelievable experience!
yep thats right i already did it...
when?
in january while i was in new zealand.
what is it?
THE CANYON SWING
in queenstown.
standing on a platform 109m from the river below...
you jump...
and freefall for 60m...
before swinging 200m out into the canyon...
FREAKIN SCARY!
but i did it...
TWICE!
and im ready to do something thats possibly even scarier...
share the videos with you...
cause otherwise you might not believe me right?

ok dont laugh at me too much...

canyon swing one:

the guys that work at canyon swing are amazing...
i actually cried on the bus ride to the jump site...
not because i was worried about splating on the canyon floor but because the little dirt road to get there freaked me out...
so the guys were really really nice to me, but generally they joke around and try and spook people, they are hilarious people who know just how to treat each and every jumper...
and as you can see in the first video once i was done there were big hugs and lots of congratulations from them all...
then they convinced me that i just wouldnt be happy with myself unless i physically stepped over the edge...
so with a new found confidence in the harness and the support ropes...
i stepped over the edge
(ok i kinda just fell - take a look)...

canyon swing two:

such a great experience...
i was on such a high for the rest of the day/week...
if you ever get a chance to do this, please do...
you will not regret it!

:)

Because im lazy...

yes i realise it has been may for a week now (where is the year going?)

Wanting: to go to Zumba classes, to have all my assignments and exams finished, more money, another job, the list goes on.......
