day zero

yesterday i signed up to day zero...

im really happy that i know have my goals written down and have set a time frame in which to complete them, i think it makes me far more likely to go through with them...
its kind of like having 101 (although i havent thought of them all yet) new year's resolutions (but ones ill stick to this year - well hopefully!)...

so what is day zero?
The Challenge:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple challenges such as New Year's resolutions or a 'Bucket List'. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips, study semesters, or outdoor activities.

You can check my progress here (and obviously ill blog about it too):

surfs up.

i went surfing today for the first time this summer...
finally!
its my aim for the summer to stand up atleast once...
i managed to get to my knees this morning so thats a slight improvement.

i really should be able to surf considering ive lived not more then a 10 minute drive from the beach my whole life...
but its never something i really got into...
my sister did, she's pretty good...
but i only ever really gave surfing a proper try one other summer (and failed miserably).

so my mum took me shopping this afternoon and we bought me a spring suit (wet suit with short legs n sleeves)...
that i can use for trying to surf this summer...
and that she can use when she goes kayaking...
so now i have no excuse not to be out there everyday.

maybe one day i can match the likes of stephanie gilmore ...

or maybe not =)

christmas 09.

another christmas over...
already.
wow this years flown by!

christmas was great but it just didnt feel quite as, well, christmasy as usual...

my parents woke up on christmas day earlier then my sister and i for the first time ever...

presents were great and fun to give and recieve but most of us knew what we were getting from one another anyway this year...

breakfast was delicious...
croissants with melted ham & chesse, or nutella...

the weather was horrible...
cold, overcast, with splattering of rain...
so no traditional beach expedition for us this year...

my aunty, uncle and two of my cousins joined us for xmas lunch...
which bought a little more of a festive feel to the day...
i really do love spending time with family on christmas day...

lunch was delicious...
prawns, oysters, potato salad, cabbage salad, mango avocado salad, ham, turkey, pork....
yum yum...

then we played a hilarious game of pictionary...

and followed up with desert...
delicious toblerone cheesecake and trifle...

then the cousins and my aunty and uncle headed off home...
and my sister and i settled in for a 'hills' marathon...

i really do love christmas...
i wonder what we'll get up to next year?

hope you all had a great day...
and santa was kind to all.

xx

(unable to post photos at this time... so stay tuned for those)

#best 09.

(i deleted a few topics that i didnt have answers for... click the banner above to visit the original site of the challenge.)

Trip.
at the start of the year my sister and I went on a week long holiday to surfers paradise on the gold coast QLD...
was a great start to the year...
we caught up with family for australia day, went jet boating, on the vomatron, and to draculas cabaret resturant.

Restaurant moment.
it was at sammys kitchen in civic (canberra ACT)...
the food is always amazing there...
possibly the best chinese in canberra...
and i went with 4 friends from university...
we took 7 bottles of wine with us, so you can imagine just how much fun we had.

Book.

Night out.
how do i pick one?
im going to say res ball...
which i have previously posted about...
amazing night...
words just cant describe it to you all.

Blog find of the year.
Girl From Mih-Nee-Soo-Tah.
love it...
nicole writes really well and has loads of interesting stories about her life here in aus.

Album of the year.
i <3 taylor swift...
her song fifteen is amazing!
and also kate voegle...
i listened to alot of her music this year!

New food.
mongolian lamb (or chicken)...

something i had always seen but never thought i would enjoy...
yum yum!

What's the best change you made to the place you live?
photos!
photos everywhere!
as i live on res and only have my little room to decorate having photos all over makes it so much homier and reminds me of all the good times ive had everyday.

Word or phrase.
2009 was "unbelievable".
word or phrase used most: "_________ is a whore/slut"...
dont get me wrong though...
i never used this as an insult for someone it was just a joke that me and my roomies had between us.

Car ride.
car ride to camping...
just me and dc...
everybody by the backstreet boys provided the soundtrack...
and we got lost numerous times...
and we had to get out to check the depth of puddles hahaha (inside joke, sorry.)

New person.
i have to pick one?
when i met sooooo many people this year!
ok....

ELLEN!

great year.
