Challenge 25: Photographic Challenge- Old.

Photograph anything old. People, your old teddy, buildings, antique nick-nacks, books whatever you like - what you think about it, if it does or doesn't inspire you - what makes it interesting or special?
Living on campus in a room that i have only been in for about 10 months, i have very few 'old' items around...
but i wanted to photograph an object that is mine and has some kind of significance to me...
i can think of a number of items that i could have created really interesting photographs of, but they are all back at home...
so after lots of looking, contemplating and experimenting...
i gave up...
now im taking this challenge a little differently...
and posting the oldest photo i could find on my computer...

this is a photo of my mum, me and my little sister waaaaaay back in the day...
my sister dont look very old so im guessing this was taken in 1992...
which would mean i am 2 years old in the photo...
one of my all time favourites...
i find this photo both interesting and special because it contains the two most important females in my life...
it inspires me, it puts a smile on my face, it reminds me how loved i am and how much i love my family...
and come on you have to agree...
we look pretty cute hey?!
xx

* this is a blogthis challenge *

and so it begins.

uni is over for the year...
and so begins the gradual departure of new res tenants.
my roommate W has just left for the summer...
and everyone else will leave at some point in the next two weeks.
3 months without seeing all these people is going to be strange...
you cant really understand it unless you've ever lived on campus but the people you live with become like a second family...
living so close together you see everyone, everyday!
we all spend every waking second together...
and thats why summer at home without them all is going to be so weird and undoubtedly lonely.
dont get me wrong...
i am sooooo excited to go home and spend time with my family, and be near the beach, and catch up with my highschool friends...
but i know im going to miss my new res peeps pretty much every day!
and even worse...
i have to stay in this city until christmas for my job...
when id much much much rather be at home!

Challenge 24: The Real Meaning of Christmas

What does Xmas mean to you and your family?
Have you got some traditions??
What will you cook?!
Who will you spend it with?
Got a favourite Christmas memory?
How are you decorating??

What a great blogthis challenge! Im getting excited just thinking about writing this one... here goes:

Christmas is by far my favourite holiday and best time of the year. I love that we have christmas in summer i just can't imagine it anyother way.
When I was younger my family and I would usually spend christmas either away at relatives or at home with relatives over but as we have gotten older the trend has become that we stay at home, just the four of us.

This christmas will be just the four of us at home and i couldnt think of any other way i would rather spend it. Having lived out of home for the past 2 years, getting to spend some good quality time with my family is a christmas present in itself.

No doubt we will wake up early christmas morning (me and my sister (17 & 19) still wake up super duper early and creep into mum n dads room to tell them to get up and give us our presents).

Then will be present opening.

Then breakfast which will most probably be croissants with melted cheese and ham (or nutella if your a chocolate freak like me).

Then we will get dressed and ready for the day and head off down to the beach where we will stay until about oneish (or whenever the wind starts to come up or we are too burnt).

Then we head home for a FEAST! Im talking oysters, prawns, mutliple salads, ham, turkey, chicken... oh the list goes on. Yes it is too much food for just 4 people but its christmas and we will end up eating it all eventually... christmas leftovers are the BEST!

Then we nap or fiddle with new presents until late in the day when we may become peckish again and pick at some leftovers.

OH and dont forget bon bons - it is not christmas unless there are bon bons at the table!

wow im soooooooo excited for christmas now...
i have to stay away from home til a couple of days before christmas for work so im really looking forward to christmas to get me through.

xoxo

stoneweek day 6: stonefest.

stoneweek is over...
i cant believe that this week i have waited all year for has been and gone...
and what an amazing unforgettable week it has been...
all leading up to saturdays celebrations at stonefest!

stonefest was a great day...
art vs science were fantastic...
and the living end really got the crowd going...

i got to spend the day with the most amazing people you will ever meet...
what a wonderful way to end an unbelievable year!

I really cant believe its reached the end of the university year...
people are starting to pack their stuff and head back home for the holidays...
i have two exams next week and then i have finished my first year of university...
when i return next year i will no longer be a fresher but a returner...

this year has truly been my best yet and i dont think im ready for it to end just yet...
im dont want to say goodbye to everyone and watch us all go our seperate ways for summer...
im not good with change and next year wont be the same...
but fingers crossed...
it will be better!
